without going into too much detail, i want to have a throw-back to my last post, when i somewhat cryptically mentioned an audition i had that i could write more about at a later date. for those of you that don't know, what i was talking about was the tv show "the bachelor." lol, yes. never in a million years would i ever apply for that show, i don't honestly think that meeting your future spouse is best accomplished by a 6 week reality show! so, i was hesitant to even audition, when i was asked to by a casting company last sunday. i had applied on a casting site for a role as an all-american type, not knowing what the show was, and then basically was pursued by the network and the casting agency, because they really liked my look. this is funny because it's further proof for how reality tv is hardly real. i decided that i would definitely do the interview, because it'd be great to get my face in from of network producers...but i wrestled over whether or not i'd accept the role if offered to me. luckily, up until this point, i've not heard anything back, so that's making my decision pretty easy! i've weighed the pros and cons over and over...clearly i wouldn't at all be going into it trying to "find love," or whatever they say, it could be good exposure, but also, you never know how you'll be portrayed, and whether reality tv would be a push or a killer for your career as an actor. anyway!!! it was a whirlwind few days with the whole audition process...them saying that i'd have to have a passport and be able to drop my life for 6 weeks, starting filming here in about 2 weeks. craziness!!! but anyway, that was my vague audition mention last post.
also career-related, i went to an invited open call on friday at the daniel hoff agency, to seek commercial representation. basically i went and they gave me some copy to read and memorize as much as possible. then i read it for the camera...they may call back or not, but i plan on going back as often as i can if i don't hear from them. they'll get so sick of seeing me, they'll have to represent me, lol!! i think that's a good strategy, yes...
later that night, lane, holland (the roomies) and i went to warner brothers studios in burbank. i was unbelievably excited, because my horror film was being screened in a actual screening theater on the lot at wb!! i guess the ny film academy is affiliated with wb and universal, so that's why we got to go. we watched about 13 short films, all student-made. some of them were very obviously student films, however, others were very well-done! i'm sure i'm biased, but "the new residence" (my film) was my favorite! it turned out great, i was a bit nervous and self-conscious, as you can imagine. i had hoped my acting would look natural, and i thought it was good! and the film overall looked very professional-the cinematography, the storyline, etc. i hope that' i'll be able to post it when i get a copy in the near future. below are some pics from the screening. one by the wb tower, and one with hiro, the director, whom you've seen before. probably the most thrilling part for me was just seeing the opening credits, when "lauren parrent" flashed up on the screen. sigh. that was cool, i'm not gonna lie. :) i could definitely do this for a living, lol!
hope everyone has a happy mlkj day tomorrow! maybe something exciting will warrant a post in the coming days. there's always that hope... goodnight!
Did I tell you I work on the same floor as a guy from the Bachelorette (w/ Jen)? He was the "Christian."
I totally understand what you mean about doing a reality show--especially the Bachelor. Krista would flip though! :P
Lauren--I will check back for updates! How exciting and hilarious. Just be careful, there are some McCreepsters out there :)
you can do this... you ARE doing this!
You look awfully wintery in your pea coat and scarf. I'm sure its just an illusion. No way you can be nearly as cold as I am. Hey. I have an idea, why don't you share the warmth? Send it back our direction for awhile! ;)
I can't wait to see the student film!!! Keep me posted.
i would definitely get a thrill out of seeing my name on the screen! i would have to start watching the bachelor if you were on it, and i'm not a fan of reality tv in general, but i would sacrifice to see you!
